Scott and Mylo

Simply put, Cathy is an amazing teacher. I am a single pet dad to a 1 year and 9 months old Bordoodle (half border collie, half poodle), and as you can probably guess, a very smart and stubborn pup. I started taking Mylo to classes with Cathy when he was just 3 months old and continued until he was just over a year old. The only reason I discontinued was because we moved out of town.

I very quickly realized at the beginning, these classes with Cathy weren’t just about teaching Mylo how to be the best dog he can be, it was also about me learning how to be the best dog dad. Cathy was amazing at explaining the dog’s way of thinking, and would always have an answer to any question or challenge I was having. Mylo presented unique stubbornness that even Cathy has never seen. However, she never gave up and always took the time to find a solution catered to Mylo and I.

Being hard of hearing, I had a unique request to teach Mylo to alert me when the smoke detector goes off. Cathy was honest and mentioned she has never done that. But nonetheless, she took it as a challenge. Every week I can tell she did her research and would introduce what she has learned. Cathy was very successful in helping me teach Mylo to respond to the smoke detector! Although not an official hearing dog, Mylo continues to alert me whenever he hears the alarm go off.

I miss the joy we had every week learning something new and giving Mylo his much need mental stimulation. We learned everything from basic stay and recall, to even riding on a skateboard!

Thanks to Cathy, I believe Mylo and I have become the best duo I could ever ask for. Everything from how to introduce your pup to a new trick, to understanding the pup’s behaviour in certain settings, have all been valuable lessons I carry today. Everyone who ever meets or takes care of Mylo always comments on how amazing of a pup Mylo is. I thank Cathy for teaching me everything I know today and helping me unlock Mylo’s true potential.

Spending time with Cathy and your dog will be the best investment you can make!
